Back to Reality...

I have just returned from a FABULOUS vacation in Grand Cayman. It was a beautiful island and a very relaxing vacation. I took hundreds of photos!
Since I was gone last week I was unable to participate in Kim Klassen's Texture Tuesday challenge. And I was so busy with packing and getting ready to leave town that I didn't participate the week before we left.
I am delighted that her theme this week is 'Garden Party'. Not only have I been taking lots of photos of
flowers around my yard this spring but while in Grand Cayman we went to the Queen Elizabeth Botanic Gardens there. Obviously, the tropical climate produces much different flowering plants and trees than we have around this 'neck of the woods', so I was in heaven!
I do have to admit that the above photo was taken in my yard several weeks ago. My bleeding heart plants seem to get more beautiful each year. Kim's lovely linen texture is just perfect for making this photo look like a painting! I also used …

Tuesday's Offering

This past weekend was full of fun-starting with Thursday's Cinco de Mayo dinner. Then Saturday we went to a huge Kentucky Derby party at Arlington Park & I won some money! Then Mother's Day was simply delightful---I did absolutely NOTHING (once I got home from yoga class) but lounge around and let my husband wait on me. A very lazy day but enjoyable day! My intentions were to at least do some doodling in my sketchbook but I didn't. I did however, take some pictures of all the ducks, geese, birds and flowers in and around my house.
The cardinal above was sitting in the shrubs just outside my back door. I was able to take a few photos before my dog starting barking at him. The photo was layered with Kim Klassen's newest textures, Trust & Believe. Then I used a new brush that I have which is like a frame. I think I like it!

Then I saw this little finch at the birdfeeder and I was able to get several shots of him. Again, the photo was layered with Kim's Trust …

Teacup Texture Tuesday

A very quick post as today was a crazy, busy day. Just a few photos for the Texture Tuesdays challenge. This week's challenge was to use a photo of a teacup or coffee cup.
Here's mine.

While I was out & about last Saturday I drove by a HUGE swan's nest. I drove round & round trying to figure out where to park so I could get a good shot. For now I'm just showing you papa swan. He was on high alert while I was walking around taking pix. He was quite a handsome fella too!

I promise to show photos of mama swan and her nest later this week. I also plan to do another drive-by and see if the eggs have hatched.
I do have photos of baby geese. Usually the mama goose doesn't bring the babies out until Mother's Day weekend. This year she brought them out early. I have no idea why, since we're experiencing one of the coldest, wettest springs ever!
Here's the goose family.

I love the bright chartreuse color of the babies! I regret to say that I have only see…
