Thank you so much for your take on the subject matter. Like all my artwork I struggle too much with perception instead of just allowing myself freedom to create. I'm going to continue to 'play' around with abstract a bit, it's like an exercise for my brain. My daily tags that I do are an exercise but of a different sort, so maybe between the two I'll begin to get in some sort of groove as far a my artwork is concerned. I feel like I'm all over the place and don't really have my 'own' style as yet.
Still trying to 'find myself'. So thanks again
and hugs to ya!
Becky my dear, you just have to try acrylic inks if you've not done so. They work especially well on unprimed canvas. You can do collage on unprimed canvas just as well as primed, mounted canvas or paper. It is a great method to explore! Thanks again girls!Cathy Spivey Mendolahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05353775388613836052noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2407878081989312685.post-49055079344769587852009-03-14T16:23:00.000-04:002009-03-14T16:23:00.000-04:00Cathy I want to come to your craft room and play!!...Cathy I want to come to your craft room and play!! This is just so neat. I have never used acrylic inks but they look fascinating to me. I paint occasionaly and have done murals and floorcloths. I also enjoy a good prim craft every now and again:)
I am so glad you bookmarked the Artchix store they have so many wonderful ideas there and so much artwork!
Have a magical weekend:)
XXXXX
BeckyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10408446186571299994noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2407878081989312685.post-18384620190718791712009-03-14T12:50:00.000-04:002009-03-14T12:50:00.000-04:00Well, it's about high time I popped in here. I am...Well, it's about high time I popped in here. I am so behind on my blog visiting and I have missed checking on everyone. You are always so good about visiting me and leaving sweet happy thoughts so I am way overdue for visiting you.

First, can't believe I missed your health scare and then relief. Whew! So glad everything is okay.

Next, it is always such a treat to peek in someone's studio and see their stash of treasures. The pictures are lovely and it is fun to drool over your space and supplies.

The paintings are gorgeous. You are so talented in ALL that you do. Painting scares the heck out of me - maybe someday I will attempt it after seeing your lovely work. As for abstract, I always explained it this way to my students . . . non-representational is the correct term for what most people call abstract. Non-representational art usually is more about depicting an emotion or feeling and it is sometimes harder to recognize the subject matter without additional information from the artist. Abstract work includes a subject that has been streamlined to simple forms but is still recognizable. For instance, usually when kids draw a pumpkin or flower, they are not making a realistic work but one that has taken the flower or pumpkin and drawn or painted it in its simplest form, thus we would say it is abstract. That is just my very simplified version for kids and of course the idea could be debated at great length. Anyhoo, I would consider your paintings abstract AND beautiful!

Cathy, thank you for always being so kind and good. It is such a pleasure to be getting to know you and your work. I hope you have a great weekend!

marshaTumble Fish Studiohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09548274352591532536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2407878081989312685.post-58029435812582972492009-03-14T10:28:00.000-04:002009-03-14T10:28:00.000-04:00You're welcome Diane!
