What a great thing to start out the new year with!
I've been wanting to post since January 1st but I've been contemplating what I wanted to say. Much time has been spent lounging around with my daughter, going to yoga and also trying to figure out what direction I want to take this year.
A lot of introspection...possibly because of the yoga and possibly because of the blog post I read by the wonderfully talented Kim Klassen. I took a photoshop mini workshop with her and I am starting a new workshop with her next week.
Her blog post was regarding 'one word'. She chose one word for herself last year and now this year she has chosen another.You can click on her name to pop over to her blog and read about her word.
As for my word...I have thought long and hard about what I want to accomplish during 2011. I have been going to yoga for several months now and it's really starting to 'click'. It is changing my thoughts as well as hopefully changing my body. It is causing me to slow down a bit and focus on the present more.
Usually I feel like a dog chasing it's tail.... ALWAYS busy but never accommplishing everything that I want to do!
I went so far as to get out my thesaurus looking up words that I thought might be 'the ONE'.
So many words popped into my head.....balance....align...harmony...attitude...evolve...
Obviously, there's a kind of theme that kept surfacing--- I wanted this year to be the year that I get my life in balance/alignment/harmony. I want to stop stressing over insignificant details and be fully aware
of the life I have.
Soooooooo......yesterday in yoga class my 'word' came to me! It is OPEN. I want to be open to possibilites, open to the creative process, open to change, open to a healthier lifestyle, open to living a
more grateful life. I don't want to sound all 'new age-y' but yoga really has been a good thing for me.
I also embarked on a new program at the yoga studio yesterday. It's called 40 Days to Personal Revolution. It's not about diet & exercise, it's about lifestyle changes. We even have to meditate TWICE a day. That's probably the hardest! Trying to sit still and clear your mind is extremely difficult--but doable.
